Rome and its Early Christian Churches

DAY 1 – ARRIVE ROME

  • We will meet our Italian guide and driver and proceed toward our hotel home for the next five (5) nights.
  • DAY 2 – IMPERIAL ROME / JEWISH QUARTER / EARLY CHRISTIAN CHURCHES

  • Meet local guide for a full-day tour, starting with San Clemente, then the Imperial Rome area: Palatine Hill, Colosseum, and Roman Forum.
  • DAY 3 – OSTIA ANTICA / ROMAN FRESCOES

  • The site of Ostia Antica for a sense of ancient Roman town life. Tour of the first Roman Church after Constantine began to favor Christianity, the second of the four Major Basilicas in Rome, St. John Lateran.
  • DAY 4 – PAPAL AUDIENCE / APPIAN WAY / CATACOMBS / ST. PAUL’S MARTYRDOM / BASILICA OF ST. PAUL OUTSIDE THE WALLS

  • Drive to St. Peter’s Square, we will participate in the weekly Papal Audience and blessing. We will board our bus and continue the tour visiting Abbey of the Three Fountains, the traditional place of Paul’s martyrdom, and the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.
  • DAY 5 – VATICAN TREASURES / BAROQUE CHURCHES AND SQUARES

  • Vatican area to visit one of the great art collections in the world, the Vatican Museums. The Sistine Chapel, the private chapel of the Popes, where Michelangelo best expressed his genius in monument
  • Day 1: Depart the US, bound for Rome

    Day 2: Arrival / Ostia /Rome

    Welcome to Beautiful Italy. We will visit Rome following the steps of Paul. Upon arrival at Rome’s international airport, and before we start the visit of Rome, we drive for approx 10 minutes towards the sea, to visit the site of Ostia Antica the harbor city of Ancient Rome.

    Day 3 : Rome Imperial Rome/ Paul’s martyrdom

    This tour will show the great “power” of Rome and Emperors who demanded divinity for themselves. This was mainly what Apostle Paul preached against. From the Trajan’s Column, to the Capitoline Hill, once political and religious center of the town, which today is the seat of the Municipality. The stairway will lead us to the Piazza del Campidoglio, the magnificent result of a single project by Michelangelo

    Day 4 : Rome / Vatican Museum

    This morning we board our bus and continue our Roman visit at the Vatican Museums and San Peter’s Basilica – After break for lunch, we continue to guided tour with the Basilica of St John in Lateran which became among the most important Christians Churches of Rome.

    Day 5: Rome / Assisi / Florence

    Early morning departure towards north, crossing the Tiber river and the green Umbiran valley, we will reach the charming and historic city of Assis. We will visit the Church of Santa Chiara, the site where St. Francis was born. Afterwards, we proceed onward by bus to the small Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, which was settled and established by the local order of monks who gave St. Francis his portion or tiny space to worship, also known as the Porziuncola Chapel.

    Day 6: Florence

    After breakfast in the hotel this morning, we begin the day discovering why Florence is the cradle of the Renaissance. Continue to Piazza della Signoria , the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell Tower – Baptistry of St. John (the religious historic jewel of the city with its “Gates of Paradise”. The bus-tour will conclude at The Accademia Gallery, which displays Michelangelo’s famous “David”,. The remainder of late afternoon is at leisure to explore additional treasures of Florence and explore further on our own.

    DAY 7: Florence / Pisa / Venice

    In the morning, we journey to Pisa – The power of Pisa lay out to the 11th century when it acquired traditional fame as one of the four main historical Marine Republics of Italy. We will have time to wander about the square and photograph the Tower and enjoy a coffee or refreshing beverage . We continue our cultural journey towards north, to arrive in Venice/Mestre in the late afternoon.

    DAY 8 : Venice

    Soon after breakfast, transfer to central Venice by private motor-boat and meet our local guide. Enjoy a tour of the magnificent Piazza and Basilica of St. Mark’s. Take in some time at leisure for an optional gondola ride or stroll the streets for delicacies and shopping.

    DAY 9: Venice to the US for our return home with cherished memories to last a lifetime.
